Putting A Spell On It

Imagine my amusement when having typed my business partners name (Rod) Geoghegan into Word and right-clicked to edit the apparent mispelling, Microsoft’s spellchecker suggested “Egghead”. Prompted by this hilarity I did some research and it appears the most common term overlooked by Spellcheckers is “pubic defender”. Just as a warning to have your documents proof-read and not to rely on spell-checker, paste this poem into Word and see what gets picked up:

“I have a spelling checker
It came with my PC
It planely marks for my revue
Mistakes I can knot sea
I ran this poem thru it
And I’m sure Yule bee glad two no
Its letter perfect in it’s weigh
My checker told me sew.”

Commenting on my own stories again…..

Just read the “Roundtable” article in the recent NMA supplement on Digital Creativity and not once, but twice their spellchecker allowed “there” through when “three” was the intended word.

Admitedly, spellcheck this blog and you’ll be here all night – but them I’m not a print publisher so that’s alright. Isn’t it?
